Estado Critico

Ich habe noch nie so viel Zeit in einer Route verbracht wie in Estado Critico in Siurana.

Ich in Estado Critico (9a)

Vor genau zwei Jahren hatte ich nonstop die ca 40m lange Linie am El Pati versucht und bin immer wieder platt abgefallen..
Je öfter ich in die Route einstieg, desto schwieriger wurde es mental für den Durchstieg fit zu sein. Das immer schlechter werdende Wetter machte es mir noch um einiges schwerer, so dass ich damals leider ohne Erfolg wieder abreisen musste.

Ein Jahr später, in 2011, hatte ich Estado Critico noch immer auf meinem Wunschzettel. Allerdings hatte ich nicht viel Zeit und war auch nicht in der entsprechenden Form, so dass ich nicht einmal eingestiegen bin und habe stattdessen andere schöne Touren geklettert.

Natürlich gings auch 2012 wieder nach Siurana...

Die erste Woche war ich hauptsächlich mit Jacopo unterwegs. Er hatte auch zwischenzeitig Estado probiert und war super fit unterwegs, hat sich allerdings dann doch erst "Jungle Speed" vorgenommen. Es hat nicht lange gedauert da durfte ich ihn in seinem Durchstieg sichern..fitter Junge!!
Ich bin natürlich schön brav an der Estado geblieben und konnte gleich an den ersten Tagen wieder gute Fortschritte machen.
Eine Woche war vergangen, Weihnachten stand vor der Tür (oder eher dem Zelt)und auch Daniel und Laura haben sich auf dem Campingplatz eingenistet. Ich als vorbildlicher Bruder hatte natürlich eine brauchbare Kleinigkeit für sie dabei.

Daniel war viel mit Laura unterwegs und ich hatte das Vergnügen mit Alex zu klettern. Das war ein Spass!
Nach einigen Tagen, an denen ich nur an den einzelnen Sequenzen von Estado gearbeitet hatte, konnte ich nun die ersten Versuche starten. Es lief direkt richtig gut und so konnte ich noch vor Silvester den Durchstieg genießen :)

Silvio, der momentan immer noch mega fit in Spanien unterwegs ist, konnte die gleiche Tour recht flott schon einen Tag vor mir klettern! Glückwunsch!

Daniel konnte ein cooles schweres Projekt erstbegehen. Er wird nach einem kurzen Aufenthalt in Deutschland direkt wieder runter düsen um eine recht bekannte Linie zu wiederholen.. Also auch immer schön auf seinem Blog vorbeischauen!

Sonderangebot im Phantasialand

So gute Bedingungen wie letzten Samstag habe ich im Phantasialand noch nicht erlebt. Knäckebrot-trocken und schön kühl!
Hier ist ein kurzer Ablauf des Abends:

Runterfallen von "Rambazamba". Das habe ich gleich zwei mal beim letzten Zug  geschafft! Allerdings war ich beim zweiten Mal beim Crashpads legen sehr mit den Gedanken woanders und fiel genau daneben. Das ist auch eine Leistung, finde ich, wenn man bedenkt, dass ich 7 Pads verlegt habe...

Zum Glück konnte ich den Topgriff noch ein wenig länger halten, so dass Daniel noch unter mir einen Turm aus Crashpads bauen konnte. Mein Fuß hatte den zweiten Sturz nämlich nicht gut verkraftet.

Daniel hat sich an dem Tag eine neue Linie angeschaut.
Jetzt wo ich "Rambazamba" geschafft habe, kann ich das nächste Projekt wieder mit Daniel zusammen in Angriff nehmen.


Aber jetzt gehts bald erstmal nach Spanien!!!

Summertime in Gorges du Loup

Just after the Lead Worldcup in Briancon I met Daniel to go with him to Gorges du Loup.
We arrived in the evening and went climbing directly..
The last time I climbed in Gorges du Loup was about 10 years ago. That is why I really appreciated that Daniel had been there some month before and could recommend me the good and sadly rare natural lines.
So I started by trying "7pm JP chaud" (8c) which is a rather short and bouldery route. I fell once on the very last move at one of my first tries and recognized that I could send it soon. Recovered well and with the nightfall I did the last possible try for that day and finally I was on top :)

The next days Daniel tried "Kick ass" at high temperatures and unfortunately with the consequence of getting a shitty cut..

I was lucky to send a powerful route called "Quenelle Trophy" (8c).
The next day I was very happy about having a restday with relaxing next to the river and with some scary moments by jumping into the cold water.

Sometimes Daniel became tired by driving, so I had to control the steering wheel while he was hanging out of the window ;)

Sadly the last days came and I didn´t know how to get home..I wanted to spend as much time as possible with climbing and hanging around in the Gorges du Loup. Aurelie offered me to go with him to Briancon on Sunday.. I thought yeah its my direction. But if I went with him I would have to go by train to Wuppertal to be on time for working on Monday. In the evening I recognized that there was no train... so I hitchhiked more than 1300km and was very lucky to be in Wuppertal just two hours before I had to work.

I tried myself as a cameraman.. you will see the result as a video soon on my blog.

Nothing new on my blog? So what´s up?

Since I started an apprenticeship in the Wupperwände in Wuppertal my climbing life has changed a lot. I don’t have that much time to travel anymore, but instead I have really good training possibilities. So I decided to start competing again...
I got some more motivation now to do comps more seriously than the years before.. Lets see how it works. The first competition this year was the German Bouldercup at the ISPO tradefare in Munich. My result is not worth to talk about, but for me it was great fun to take part.

Beside climbing a lot on plastic I spend as much time as possible on rocks. One secret spot is called "Phantasialand". There are a lot of fantastic hard lines. I took a look on "Rambazamba". Daniel did the first ascent of this cool 24-moves-route and graded it about 8c+/9a. I felt very good on it and I hope to get there again soon..


Some weeks later I drove to Ettringen with some friends. I went directly to "Glühfinger" (8a+) to settle old scores. That amazing crack made me feel so weak. I needed some time to figure out the crux again.. Finally I was lucky to send it late in the evening!

The next competition was the Leadcup in St. Gallen/SUI where competitors from Switzerland, Austria and Germany took part. I became third and first in national ranking.
I was super lucky although some good climbers were missing.. after the comp I stayed in Switzerland for some more days. I went to Magic Wood with some friends and enjoyed the amazing boulders und landscape there.
Just one week later I did the same together with Malte, Tobi and my sister Laura in Bleau.. I think more than 8 years have passed since I was there before, so it was a historical moment ;)

Once again Siurana

Winter in Siurana is getting a tradition to me and each time it’s amazing to be there again. This time it was almost a family-trip, together with my brother Daniel and our sister Laura.

Two years ago I belayed Daniel on "Lola Corwin" (8c) and I was very impressed by watching Daniel doing the powerful moves to the top.

This year it should be my turn on "Lola Corwin".

When I checked out the moves everything went well. The crux was on the last moves where you have to do quite long moves in the most overhanging part. I like hard parts close to the top, I must climb very economically at the lower part and need a lot of concentration in every section of the route.

Finally I was lucky to send it in a few tries.
The next days I enjoyed climbing a nice 8b and some 8a´s onsight.
